Does UPS Deliver on Sunday?

No, as a rule. The FAQ on UPS’s weekend pickup and delivery page says UPS offers Monday through Saturday service for residential and commercial packages, with no pickups or deliveries on Sunday. UPS does not publish a Sunday delivery option or a Sunday delivery fee in its 2026 Rate and Service Guide.

One caveat: UPS’s delivery notice page lists delivery days as Monday to Friday and “Saturday/Sunday (in select areas).” Because UPS’s weekend service page says the opposite for Sunday, plan on Saturday as the last UPS delivery day of the week unless UPS confirms otherwise for your lane.

UPS Ground Saver (formerly SurePost) lists delivery days as Monday through Saturday on UPS’s Ground Saver page. UPS says Ground Saver packages may be delivered by UPS or by USPS, depending on the destination.

UPS Saturday delivery and what it costs

UPS delivers on Saturday in select areas. The 2026 Rate and Service Guide splits the price by destination type and service:

UPS Saturday delivery (2026)Fee
Residential: UPS Ground, Ground Saver, 3 Day SelectNo additional fee
Residential or commercial: Air packages$16.00 per package
Residential or commercial: international shipments$16.00 per shipment
Commercial: UPS Ground, 3 Day Select$4.00 per package
Commercial: UPS Worldwide Express Freight$200.00 per shipment
Commercial: business with a Saturday Scheduled Pickup that opts in to Ground, 3 Day Select and Standard from Canada deliveriesNo additional fee

The commercial Saturday fees are transactional: UPS charges them when the shipping label is created. UPS 3 Day Select and UPS Standard to Canada are not available in Alaska and Hawaii. UPS publishes its 2027 Rate and Service Guide on December 21, 2026; its 2027 preview of value-added service charges does not list Saturday Delivery, so the 2027 amounts are not out yet. Details are in our UPS Saturday Delivery guide.

Does FedEx Deliver on Sunday?

Yes, through FedEx Home Delivery, the residential version of FedEx Ground. According to FedEx’s weekend delivery page, Home Delivery delivers to 98% of the U.S. population on Saturdays and nearly two-thirds on Sundays, typically by 8 p.m., and FedEx does not charge extra for Home Delivery on Saturday or Sunday. FedEx’s Home Delivery page says the 1 to 5 day transit in the contiguous U.S. includes Saturday and Sunday, excluding Hawaii and Alaska.

Home Delivery packages still carry FedEx’s normal Residential Delivery Charge, $6.45 per package in 2026 under the FedEx Service Guide, whatever day they arrive. FedEx Ground shipments to businesses deliver Monday through Friday.

For FedEx Express, the weekend page lists Saturday, not Sunday, delivery: First Overnight, Priority Overnight, Standard Overnight and 2Day offer Saturday delivery for an added fee. FedEx SameDay can deliver on Saturday and Sunday, with a fee and times that vary by location.

FedEx charges the $16 Saturday Delivery fee even if the recipient asks for a later delivery or is closed on Saturday. FedEx’s 2027 change table does not list Saturday Delivery, so its 2027 amount is not confirmed. The Date Certain change is in FedEx’s 2027 surcharge and fee changes. Does USPS Deliver on Sunday?

Only for certain items. A USPS FAQ says regular mail delivery occurs Monday through Saturday, except postal holidays, and that Priority Mail Express mailpieces and Amazon parcels are the only mail eligible for Sunday delivery.

  • Priority Mail Express: USPS’s Priority Mail Express page says Sunday and holiday delivery is available in many major markets for an additional fee. Notice 123 sets that fee at $12.50, on top of postage. Under DMM 113.1.5, you can skip the premium by choosing guaranteed delivery on the next delivery day.
  • Amazon parcels: USPS delivers some Amazon packages on Sunday. For other shippers, Priority Mail Express is the USPS service with Sunday delivery.
  • Everything else (Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, First-Class Mail) is delivered Monday through Saturday.

The same $12.50 premium applies to Priority Mail Express delivery on a postal holiday. If USPS misses the guaranteed date, DMM 604.9.5 refunds the postage and the Sunday or holiday premium. See our Priority Mail Express price guide for postage.

“Out for Delivery” on a Sunday: What It Means

A Sunday “out for delivery” scan means the package is on a route that runs that day. Based on what each carrier says it delivers on Sundays, check the carrier and service on the tracking page:

  • FedEx tracking number, Home Delivery service: normal. Home Delivery runs on Sundays in much of the U.S.
  • USPS tracking: expected for Priority Mail Express with Sunday delivery, or an Amazon parcel handed to USPS.
  • UPS tracking: unusual, since UPS’s weekend page says it does not deliver on Sunday. UPS also lists Ground Saver delivery days as Monday through Saturday, even when USPS makes the final delivery. If a UPS package shows a Sunday date, check the tracking details or contact UPS.

How to Get Weekend Delivery and What It Costs

  • Cheapest Saturday to a home: UPS Ground, Ground Saver or 3 Day Select, or FedEx Home Delivery. None adds a Saturday fee in 2026.
  • Cheapest Sunday to a home: FedEx Home Delivery, with no weekend fee where FedEx delivers on Sundays. Use FedEx’s rate tool to see whether your destination gets a Sunday date.
  • Guaranteed Sunday delivery: USPS Priority Mail Express plus the $12.50 premium, in markets where USPS offers it.
  • Saturday to a business: $4 per UPS Ground package, or free if the recipient has a UPS Saturday Scheduled Pickup and opts in. Make sure the business is open: FedEx keeps the $16 fee even when the recipient is closed.
  • Saturday on air services: $16 per package at both UPS and FedEx. Compare that with shipping a day earlier on a slower service.

Weekend options left switched on in shipping software can add $16 per package to orders that would have arrived in time anyway. A carrier invoice audit shows how many Saturday charges you paid and whether they were needed.
