Why Dimensional Weight Is a Data Problem First

Frequently Asked Questions
How is dimensional weight calculated?
UPS divides the package's cubic inches by 166 (the volumetric divisor). If that's heavier than actual weight, you pay for dimensional weight. A 2'x2'x2' box with 5 lbs costs $0.70 to ship dimensionally.
Which products trigger the most dimensional charges?
Light, bulky items: pillows, cushions, sporting goods, apparel, and packaging. If your products have low density (volume >> weight), dimensional pricing is your largest controllable cost.
